AUCKLAND LADIES' TOURNAMENT.

FIRST DAY'S PLAY.

The championship tournament of the Auckland Ladies G-olf Club was commenced at the Midriiemore links yesterday morning. The weather wu line and the course was in excellent oraer. There was a record number of competitors, and some vers - good cards were returned. The first rounds of the senior and junior championships were played m the morning, and the first medal handicap in the aiternoon. Details are :—

Senior Championship.—First round: Mrs Buttle beat Mrs. Hughes, i up and 3 to play: Miss M. Maciariane beat Mrs Murphy. 4 and 3: Miss N. MacCorrnick brat Miss b. Payton. 6 and 5. Foster. 7 and 5: Miss M. Hellaby boat Miss B. Wilson. 8 and 7: Miss F. Hellaby beat M:ss P. Bloomfield. S and 7 ; Mrs. Brown beat Mi«s J.
