OBITUARY.

MRS. C. A. WHEATLEY. Mrs. Caroline Agnes Wheatley, who died at Ponsonby the other day" at the age of 67, was one of the old colonists, having arrived as an infant at Lyttelton with her the late Mr. William Taylor, one of the early Canterbury settlers. Her late husband, Mr. Herbert S. Wheatley, was at one time sergeant in the North Canterbury police force. About 30 years ago the family removed to the North Is'and, reeid-ng for a time at Woodville, though for the last 24 yean Mrs. Wheat ley's home had been at Ponsonby. Mrs. Wheatley leaves a grown-up, family of three sons and one daughter. MRS. MARY MAHONEY. A pioneer resident of Auckland. Mrs Mary Mahoney, died at ber residence, London Street, Ponsonby. on Saturday, in her 73rd year. Mrs. Mahoney was a daughter of Use late Mr. James Sullivan, a well-known pioneer of the State of Victoria and of the early gokifields of New Zealand, and her husband, the late Mr, William Mahoney, was widely known in the early days in Westland and Thames. Before retiring into private life Mr* Mahoney was proprietress for many years of the Oxford Hotel. Her kindly "disposition and genuine character gained h«r th« esteem of a wide circle of friends. She is survived by one son. Mr. J. Mahoney, and four daughters Mrs. D. Flynn, Mi=s Norah Mahoney, Mrs- George Tyler, and Mrs. Louis Peterson. ME. S. MOSES. An old and highly-respected resident ol Auckland, Mr. S. Moses, dseel on Sunday, in his 64th year. Mr. Moses was born at Ryde, in the Isle cf Wight, jjjd arrived in New Zealand in the shij> Famenotl in 1380.. Soon after his arrival bere in entered the employ of L D. His wife pre deceased him 24 years ago, and he leava three sisters—Mrs. S- Kaiman and Mrs P Edson, of Auckland, and Mrs- J. Bennett of Murchison.
