[BT TELEGRAPH.—OWK COBKXSPONDBNT.] DA.RGAVILLB, Saturday. The settlers of Horehore held a meeting last week when the need for a better school building was discussed. Mr. C Thompson offered three acres of land, valued at £48 per acre, including one acre as a free gift. A donation list was opened in the rtom, the chairman, Mr. Appleton, heading it with £10, and those present made the total up to £57. Further representations are being made to the Education Board regarding the necessity for a school* building. The school has been closed for two weeks on account of an outbreak of measles. The Otamatea County Ccuncil discussed the question of merging the Matakohe, Mareretu and Mangawai road board districts into the county, and Mr. E. K. Finlayson gave notice of mction that the merging be given effect to.
