MOTOR-DRIVEN VEHICLES.
OVER 29,000 IN SOUTH ISLAND. A census of motor-driven vehicles registered in the' South Island up to the end of last January has been compiled by a private investigator. It shows a total of 29,668 motor-cars and cycles and commercial vehicles. The largest numbers are :—Christchurch City, 7894; Waimairi county, 6128; Waimate county, 4003; Dunedin City, 3533; levels county, 1547; Invercargill borough, 2215; Southland county, 1893; Ashburton county, 1547; Timaru borough, 1481.
