A proposal to rebuild-the roads in the Waitoa riding of the Piako County was ; approved at an enthusiastic meeting of ratepayers held at Waitoa. The meeting was convened by Mr. F. W. Walters, chairman of the countyand member for . the riding, who said' the present* roads would not stand up to "the heavy milk' traffic that would follow the opening of the Waitoa dried milk factory next season. The: following resolution was passed, ''That the delegates of the various drainage boards, owing to the want of > a definite, policy on the part of the-Mangawhara River Board, are not at present prepared to support the amalgamation proposal, but would be glad if the Minister for Internal Affairs would visit the "district and confer with the parties concerned." i At a special meeting of the Morrinsvilie Chamber of Commerce, Mr. G. Howie was elected president, vice Mr. W. H. Mil- . liken, who had resigned. It was resolved to communicate with prominent Patetonga residents with a view to ascertaining the position regarding the "proposed . deviation through the Maukoro Estate on the Morrinsville-Patetonga road. Mr. E. McGregor moved, and Mr. W. T. Osborne seconded, "That the attention of the Minister for Justice be agam drawn to tfte inadequate accommodation at the aiorrinsviue Courthouse, and that be be asked to expend the grant which appeared on the Estimates, two years-ago for the extension of the bunding." The motion was carried.
