GOLF.
THE AUCKLAND CLUB. The members of the Auckland Golf Club held a. bogey competition at the Middlemore links on Saturday afternoon. The weatner was fine and 66 players took part, the best card being returned by H. Horton, who finished 7 up on bogey. With the alteration to bogey, which is now much easier, a number of good "scores were returned. The conditions for this time of the year are somewhat abnormal and on nearly all the courses in Auckland, players are finding the holes very much shorter in consequence of the dry weather. The .best cards were:—H.• Horton (S.hdcp.), 7 up,; Hon. A. M. Myers (11), 6 up; J. Hellaby (14), 4 up; E. J. Richardson (15). t4 up; P. H. Upton (15), 4 up; W. B. Colbeck (3), 3 up; A. Waller (3), 3 up; A. W. Gillies (7), 3 up; F. G. Bmney <(5)„ 2 up; T. G. Kissling (9), 2 up; J. P. Ewen (14). 2 up; X>r. Friedlander (9), 1 up; J. Mackay (11), 1 up; S. C. Hodges (12), 1 up; M. Louisson (12), 1 up; R. Ramger (scr), all square; Dr. Buck (9), all square; F. W. Browning (11), all square; H. T. Memtt (13). all squarre. Two holes were done in one at the Middlemore links- on Saturday. One player got a one. at the seventh and another player got a similar score at the tenth. The following team of sixteen playera has been, selected to represent the Auckland Golf Club against the Maungakiekie Golf Club at the Middlemore links next Saturday:—H. B. Lusk, R. Rainger, W. S. Ralph, W. B. Colbeck, D. MacCormick, A, Waller. W. Brander, F. G. Binney, J. -B. Lusk, G. D. Thacker, H. Horton, A W. Gillies, I>. G. Macfarlane, A. M. Howden, Dr. J. F. Brown and A. A. Martin; first emergency, E. O. Hales. Any member unable to play is requested to notify the stcretary at once All players must be piepared to comrsence their matches r.ot later than 1.15 p.m.
THE MAUNGAKTEKIE CLUB. The second round of the Taylor Bowl was played by members of the Maungakiekie Golf Club at the Titirangi links. New Lynn, on Saturday. The fairways, altnongh hard, presented no great difficulties, v.hiiu the greens played better than formerly. Tne games resulted:—H. A. Joyce :xct G. O'Hilloran. M. Waller beat R. H. Greville. E. F. The following were the best cards returned:—A. W. Wynesa (5 handicap). 4 up; F. S. Ballin (11). 3 up; O.'L. Martelli (14), 1 up; A. W. Short (10). 4 down: J. A. Peacock (13), 4 down; N. McRobie Q5), 4 down: A. N. Golding (16). 5 down; E. A. Luke (11), 5 down; R. M. Tot hurst (15), 5 down.
TE AROHA COMPETITION. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] * . TE AROHA. Saturday. «The To Aroha Golf Club's stroke competition was won by Mr. W. Maingay. with a net card of 72. Mrs. C. A. Arthur, net 75, returned the best ladies' card.
