MOUNT LYELL MINES.
DECISION TO CLOSE DOWN. A. stud N.Z. MELBOUItNE, May 17The board of directors of the Mount Lyell Mining Company has issued a statement that it is forced to close the mines in view of the heavy loss if operations continued under existing conditions. Instructions have been given for the cessation of all operations at Queenstown and Port Kembla on June 16.
