OBITUARY.

ME. THOMAS YOUNG. The death occurred in Wellington on Sunday of Mr. Thomas Young, barns tat and solicitor and notary public, in his 51st year. The cause of death was pneumonia. He was for soma, years associated with the firm of Messrs. Bell. Gully, and Izard, and about 1894 entered into practice on his own account. Five years later be was joined as a partner by Mr. J. A. Tripe, with whom ha was associated for 18 years. Subsequently he became senior partner of the legal firm of Young, Keave, and Courtenay, and held that position up till the time of his death. The deceased was a prominent, member of the Heretaunga Golf Club, and an enthusiastic motorist. He was chairman of the Wellington branch of the British Red Cross Society from its inception in the eariv days of the war, and was always ready to give sympathetic attention to the many matters that came under his notice. "Mr. Young was twice married. His first T?ife was Miss B. Tolhurst, daughter of Mr G. E. Tolhurst, of Wellington. About ?* ne was married to Miss Tolhurst, sister of first wiie. He is survived by his widow and a son bv the first marriage, Mr. Alexander Young, wno has been studying at Cambridge University for about eighteen months.

ME. S. jf FURNESS. The death occurred in Wellington on Saturday of Mr. S. J. .Furness, who wsa for about thirty years proprietor of the Marlborough Express, Blenheim d«ceased was in his 70th year. Ha was one of the founders of the Ashbmton Guarproceeding to Blenheim in 1879 . conducted* a printing establishment m Nelson. MR. R. W. SINCLAIR. The death occurred in Wellington lest week of Mr. Robert W. Sinclair, marine' ai the age of 80 years. He came to New Zealand'in the ship Cadmas. arriving at Auckland in 1862. Subsequently he joined the s.s. White Swan, which struck a rock while convevinsr the members of the Government from .lackland to Wellington after that citv had been made the capital of New Zealand, ivir. Sinclair served as engineer of the Government paddle steamer Luna, an J was engaged in other vessels until his retirement about eighteen Years asro. He is survived by a widow and two sons and tlircfe daughters.
