[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TAURANGA. Thursday. At the Methodist Church on Sunday the Rev. V. 5. Mercer presented Mr. Joseph Sheffield with a Sunday-school Union diploma of honour, given in recognition of 50 years' service in Sunday-school work. In the second competition of the Tauranga Defence Rifle Club for the Memorial Challenge Cup, Rifleman Harcad Oliver finished first with a score of 92. making his aggregate for two shoots 182. He will therefore bold the trophy for the first year. Rifleman Herbert finished second in the aggregate with 171. The Borough Council has been advised by the Public Trustee that a voucher for £10,000, being the second instalment of the £30.000 electricity loan, has been forwarded to the post office for payment-to the council.
