PRICES INVESTIGATION.
DISBANDING THE TRIBUNALS.
BOAUD TO CONTINUE WORK.
The investigation of prices is to continue after the Prices Investigation Tribunals go out of existence at the end of this month. This statement was made yesterday by the chairman of the Board of Trade, Mr. W. G- McDonald. Air. McDonald said the tribunals had rendered excellent service to the people of the Dominion, and had assisted materially in preventing profiteering, in future the Board of ISade officers stationed in the various centres would carry on the work done by the tribunals, and any cases investigated would be reported to the board, which would, as heretofore, authorise prosecutions if in its judgment these were necessary. Experience had shown the Department of Industries and Commerce that in the interests of the public it was necessary that a close watch should be kept on the fluctuation in prices in order that when wholesale prices fell the people should get the benefit in the form of a reduction in retail prices.
