>A DISTRESSING CASE. [BY TELEGRAPH. OWN COEBESPOIfDENW.] DARGAVILLE, Thursday.
A distressing case was revealed in the Dargaville Court, when five lads, whose ages ranged from 15 to 18 years, were charged with stealing liquor and getting drunk. One lad, while drunk, had got into a marble bar, and was found there by the watchman.
The magistrate said the case revealed a distressing state of affairs. Four of the boys were convicted and admitted to probation, the terms including the absolute prohibition of liquor and billiard saloons. In the case of any breach of probation, the magistrate said he would have to deal very severely with the offender.
