WAIHI MINE FIRE.
TIMBER STILL SMOULDERS. [BY telegraph.—own cobkespondent.] WAIHI. Thursday. Owing to extreme difficulty in dealing effectively with smouldering timber in connection with the recent outbreak of fire in the Waihi mine and danger from resulting gas, etc., steps are being taken to smother the affected area with water. It is not likely that the men will be able to resume work until next week.
