H.M.S. CHATHAM.

SOUTH ISLAND VISITS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Thursday. A few days ago the itinerary of EL M.S. Chatham was announced for the next few weeks, during which she will pay official visits to various South Island ports. Since then the Minister for Defence has received appeals from some quarters for an extension of the cruiser's tour. The Minister has consulted Commodore Hotham, and has replied regretting that the present itinerary cannot now be changed, as apart from other considerations all arrangements for the supply of fuel, etc., have been completed, and cannot be rearranged at this late date.
