RISING SUN. SIR. McCOMBIE'S REPORT. The annual meeting of shareholders in fh» Rising Sun Goldmining Company. Ltd.. was held yesterday at the office of the secretary, Mr. J. H. Jackson, about 20 shareholders being present. Mr. W. Blomneld presided. The report and baSuioe-sheet were adopted. Messrs. Blomneld and Hardie, tie retiring directors, were re-elected,, and Mr. G. Fleming was re-elected auditor. A report upon the company's mine at Owharoa. furnished by Mr. J. McCombie. has been received. He states that he visited the property on Monday. The shaft was down 25ft beneath the floor of No. 3. level. The country rock exposed to view in the bottom was a decided improvement upon that penetrated by No. 3. level drive, and was all that conld be desired for the existence of gold and silver. So far as sinking had gone. No. 1 lode was visible at both ends of the shaft, but it was generally trending toward the west wall, and was more than likely to dip out of the shaft before a depth of 100 ft was reached. Average ore samples had been taken out of this lode at stated intervale, and had. given encouraging assay results. At a point 23ft below the brace of the shaft, the east branch lode passed through No. 1 lode, and then continued, its' course into the west wall. Average ore samples taken out of this lode also assayed favourably. The site selected for sinking the shaft was within a few feet of the extreme south and of the "shoot" of high-grade ore already» revealed along tha line of No. 3 level. EAURAKI MINES. The manager of the Hauraki Mines property at Coromandel reports that in the drive north on Legge's reef, at the connection with the winze from the intermediate drive and the rise from the 300 ft level, the reef is again small, but strong mineral seams in favourable country are showing in the face. The cross, reef showing in the drive above should soon be met with. In the south drive the reef continues to be a strong body of ore, from which colours of gold were seen during the week. The values should improve as the main slide is approached. At the 300 ft level driving north on the break to get under the point where the reef is making down in tbe. drive above is now within 10ft of the point where rising will be commenced. Pieces of the reef continue to be met with in the break. Also, a strong flow of water has been cuf, indicating that I the lode is not far away.
