HOT SPRINGS LOCATED.

BORING AT HAMILTON.

STEADY FLOW SECURED.

ERECTION OF BATHS URGED. [BY TELEGRAPH — OWN COUUESI'ONDENT.] HAMILTON, Tuesday. Reporting to the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce last night upon tho practicability of providing hot, mineral baths as a tourist attraction. Mr. R. P. Staples said that as 9 result of boring operations at Frankton it was found that at 926 feet water of the temperature of 89 degrees was pumped up at tho rato of 10,000 gallons per hour. After six months' pumping tho supply, neither reduced in heat or quantity. Therefore a permanent supply of mineral water was assured. Time had not permitted a proper analysis of the water, but from reports available Mr. Staples said ho believed the water compared favourably with To Aroha waters, containing strong traces of carbonate, chlorido of sodium, lirno and magnesia, and only a very slight trace of iron 1 . Mr.' Staples suggested a boro should bo ptit down on tho Borough Council property at No. 1 Bridge, and tepid baths erected. In moving a vote of ' thanks to Mr. Staples, tho president, Mr. Parr, said it was welcome news, that Hamilton had hot springs. It would add to Hamilton's attractions, and the chamber should urge the council to put down a bore. After discussion it was decided to ask tho council to consider tho matter; also to consider the question of utilising waste steam for heating tho swimming baths.
