The North Island brass band B grade contest wa 8 continued to-day, the military and two-step -competitions being decided in the afternoon in the presence of a large crowd of spectators. The result was: — Marton, 251f points, 1; Dannevirke, 251£ points, 2; Palmerston North, 246£, 3; Hamilton, 245*. 4; Temperance Guards (Auckland), 237£, 5; Hastings, 2352 6Auckland Defence, 227£, 7. At the annual meeting of the North Island Brass Bands'. Association thanks were expressed to Dannevirke for taking up the running of the contest at such short notice. Wansborough (Marton), Herd (Wellington), Jupp (Wellington), Halben (Palmerston Nortji), Trussell (Wanganui), Williamson (Auckland), McConnell (Napier), C. Humphries (Wanganui), and Cattley (New Plymouth). An application wag received from New Plymouth, Wellington. Whangarei and Auckland for the next contest. A ballot between Wellington and Auckland resulted in Wellington being chosen. The advisability of holding one contest alternately in the North and South Islands was left to the executive to discuss and confer with the South Island association
