OIL FOE THE TAHITI.
j BUNKERING OPERATIONS. SPEEDY COMPLETION. [BT TELEGRAPH. —FBESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Wednesday. The Tahiti is the first oil-horning vessel to receive her bunker supplies at Wellington. The oil was drawn from the exhulk Addersley, which was converted into an oil-tanker by the Union Steam Ship Company six months ago. Operations were completed in a little under 12 hours, about 600 tons of oil being transferred to the liner at the rate of between 50 and 60 tons an hour. From the coal bunkering point of view the Tahiti is looked upon as a "long job," so that the time saved by the new system is very considerable.
