Fat and young calves were penned in about average numbers; values were slightly lower than last week. We had good entries at all yards prices being on a par with late quotations. Best dairy cows and heifers £14 10s to £22, others £10 to £14 se; aged cows and inferior heifers. £6 10s to £9 15s; empty cows, £5 10s to £5 10s; bulls. £3 to £7 10s; heifers, suitable dairy purposes, £5 10s to £7 15s; calves, £1 to £2 10s; yearling steers, £2 15s to £4; 18-months to 2-year steers, £4 10s to £6 10b. At Clevedon we aiso had a large entry of fat and store sheep, which sold well. Wethers. £1 3s to £1 10s: ewes, 17s 6d to £1 os; lambs, 12s to £1 4s.

At Papakura on Tuesday we held our monthly sale, when for the time of the year we had a record yarding, which with few exceptions changed hands at late quotations. No grown steers were penned. Three-year steers £8 to £10 10s. 2 to 2}-year £6 to £7 15s. 18-months £4 Ss to £5 10s. yearling £2 10s to £3 158: calves, £1 5s to £2 9s; yearling heifers £2 10s to £3 10s. 18-months £3 18s to £4 15s: heifers, suitable dairy purposes. £5 to £7 15s: empty cows, £3 10s to £5 10s: aged cows, £1 upwards: bulls. £2 10s to lljgns.. according to weight and quality. Springers in large numbers were keenly sought after: Best £15 to £21, others £9 10a to £14 10s; aged cows and inferior heifers. £5 10s to £9 ss.

At Westfield fat stocjc market on Wednesday, beef was penned in less numbers than of late. Competition was on par with last week, prices being about the same.
