OBITUARY.

MR. FRANCIS ROYCROFT. An old identity of Auckland, Mr. Francis Roycroft, passed away on Sunday last at the age of 82 years. Mr. Roycroft arrived at Auckland in the ship Portland in the year 1555. He was a native of Dublin, and served his apprenticeship to the engineering profession in that city. After his arrival he joined the service of the firm of Messrs. Fraser and Tinne. for a long period, and later waj employed by the Colonial Ammunition Company and other firms, ba't during recent- years he lived in retirement at Devonport. For many years he was closely identified with the* Amalgamated Society of Engineers, and at the time of his death was one of the oldest members and officers ia the Dominion. As a Freemason he was connected with Lodge United Service No. 10 for 45 years, occupying the chair during the vear 1879 and was very much respected by all his brethren.
