Findlay, of Wellington, and Mrs. Findlay are at tha Grand Hotel. Mr. H. Troutbeck, of Napier, is visiting Auckland. He is at ths Grand Hotel. Dr. Garcia Webster, of Wellington, and Mrs. Webster axe at the Grand Hotel. Mr. F. W. Furkert, engineer-in-chief to the Public Works Department, returned to Wellington by the- Main Trunk express last evening. Sir. L. Birks, electrical engineer-m----chief to the Public Works Department, was a passenger by the Main Trunk express last evening. Mr. J. J. Walklate, acting-town clerk, who had "an arm amputated some months ago, is now quite restored to health. Mr. Walklate took up his of&cial duties ves terday. Inspector Cruickshank, of the Canterbury police district, hands over the reins of office to his successor. Inspector Matheson, on December 30, and will leave about January 2 for a holiday in England. Mr. J. IT. Gunson, Mayor of Auek land, left yesterday for Waiheke, where he will spend a short vacation. Mr. Gunson will be in the city for a day c>n December 28, and will resume his official duties on January 5. Messrs. E. H. Andrews and A.
