CITY WATER SUPPLY.
FURTHER TESTS MADE. PRECAUTIONS TO CONTINUE. CAUSE OF POLLUTION SOUGHT A visit was paid to the Waitakere reservoir yesterday by officials of the City Council and the Public Health Department, for the purpose of inspecting the locality and taking ' further testa of the water, with a view to determining whe- , ther it is now free from pollution. The results of the tests will not be available for another day or two. Meanwhile con- ) sumers of the city water are advised not to make use of it without boiling it. 1 Dr. T. J. Hughes, district health offi- ' cer. stated last evening that every effort ' was being made to discover the cans© of . the recent pollution of the Bupplies from i Nihotupu and Waitakere. It was of vital ) importance, he said, that the cause of contamination should be revealed, and action [ taken to prevent" a recurrence of the trouble. At present he could offer no ! opinion on the matter, but said it was quite possible that the pollution was : caused by animals or birds in the watershed area.
