Representatives of the National Dairy Association, which is the North Island Dairy Association to-day considered the offer recently made through the High Commissioner of a reduction in the freight on cheese. The tonnage committee of .the shipowners' conference had asked whether a rate of 1 5-16 d. plus 10 per cent, would be satisfactory. The dairy associations decided that, the offer was not satisfactory, and that a greater reduction should be asked for. They brought the matter before the Prime Minister this afternoon, and Mr. Massey promised to communicate with ■ the High Commissioner again.
