JAZZ CABARET.

Sir,—l am glad someone has taken this matter irjf. it is quite bad enough to haye such an undesirable entertainment on the eve of the anniversary of our Saviour's birth, but for the Mayor and councillors to allow these revelhngs, to encroach en Christmas morning, a day more sacred than the Sabbath, is deplorable ! Can nothing be done to stop such desecration ? A.D.P. Sir.—ln last issue of the Hehald certain persons showed indignation and disgust because of the arrangements ior a jazz cabaret season at the Town Hall. In the same issue it appears that a certain Mayor, in welcoming Mrs. Bramwell Booth, remarked that there were many ways to heaven, and that Mrs. Bramwell Booth interjected, " No, there is only one." It all seems to me of a muchnees. • Mere Q>tlooicee. Sir, —I can picture New Zealand as a modern Utopia if " Disgusted Parent " and his clique ever hold the veins of government. There would be no dances, races, movies, soda fountains, picnics, or other infamous means of debasing the youth of New Zealand. I snppoee our friends would replace such things by " Noah's Ark "socials," shuttlecock, or other gentlemanly games, lantern views of the Holy Land, public drinking fountains, Sunday-school picnics, eta, etc. What a pappy, holy, and heavenly habitation wheiein the best boy is he who knows most Bible quotations, etc., as may be gleaned from the letters of our venerable friends. Even if in their youth they did not have the pleasures we indulge in, they might remember that timee have changed; that young people thrive on innocent pleasure, and if they do not get it they will seek other and harmful pleasures. * Even if "Disgusted Parent" has grown old prematurely, he might remember that he was young himse'f once, and should not deny us w-hat he, I hope, eraved for. " Ok with the Dance.
