PERSONAL ITEMS.
Mr. Justice ,Hosking will arrive in Auckland on Tuesday, and will take civil business at the Supreme Court during the week. Mr. W. T. Goodwin, officer in charge of the fire blight area in the Auckland Province, will leave for Hamilton this morning. Dr. F. Hay, Inspector-General of Mental Hospitals, who has been visiting the Auckland district, left for Wellington by last evening's express. Mr. T. Harle Giles, conciliation commissioner, has returned from. New Plymouth after dealing with three disputes. two of which were fully settled, and one partially so. Sir. J. H. Baker, for some years Commissioner of Crown Lands at Wellington, and afterwards Assistant SurvevorGeneral, and his daughter, Miss Noeline Baker, M.8.E., are passengers by the Arawa., which is due at Auckland on Christmas Eve. Mr. W. A. Pringle, M.A.. at present lecturer in economics in the London University, who has accepted the chair of economics at otago University, is an LL.B. of Edinburgh and Glasgow Universities, with honours in economics, jurisprudence, and international and constitutional law, and is also a barrijster-at-law. Mr. Pringle expects to leave London for Dunedin early in February.
