THE TIMARU SALE. ABOUT 1300 BALES SOLD. FULL BENCH OF BUYERS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] TIMARU. Friday. At the first wool Bale held at Timaru this season a catalogue of 1751 bales was offered. About 1300 bales were sold. Halfbreds were practically cleared at price* fully up to the late Christchurch sales. Three-quarter-breds were id and quarterbreds Id lower than the Christchurch rates. Some first-class merino sold at 19d to 21d per lb. Other merino made 14Jd to 18d. No super half-bred was offered. Good made ,to 13$ d. Super three-quarter-bred made to l©£d, others 6d to B£d. Quarter-bred tops realised 7£d, others down to 3^d. Scoured half-bred made to 233 d, and quarter-bred to 12d. Fine pieces realised up to 17d. Greasy fine pieces (merino) fetched ltd, and scoured fine pieces 12d. Good half-bred greasy pieces made lOd to three-quarter-bred to 7Jd. Quarter-bred pieces realised up to 7d. A full bench of buyers was present. The wool was in fair condition. Pieces and bellies sold well compared with fleece wool, and in some cases for more money. DULL LONDON SALES. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 9.30 p.m.) LONDON, Deo. 9. At the wool sales, to-day the tone showed no change and 80 per cent, of the offerings were withdrawn. Best prices were: Cultown, 3s 6d; Tugland, Is od; Bonna, Is lid; Ruthven, 2s 2^d. IMPROVEMENT IN MELBOURNE. A. and N.Z. MELBOURNE, Deo. 10. The wool sales revealed a selection of good wools. Competition for best wools was wider than of late and withdrawals were less frequent. The top price was 3s 10|d.
