CHRISTIAN TEMPERANCE.
The annual meeting of the Auckland District Women's Christian Temperance Union was held on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Cook presided over a good attendance. The treasurer's report showed a satisfactory credit balance. The secretary reported a good year of work. 'Die hostel treasurer reported that over £700 was in hand, with donations to come. Good reports were received regarding the various departments of . work—- • ribbon, Maori, prison work, work among seamen, notable days, cradle roll, , press, purity, Sabbath observance, and sickvisitors./ The officers were re-elected as follows —President, Mrs. J. Cook; recording secretary, Mrs. W. J. Taylor: corresponding secretary, Miss N. Dewar;, treasurer, Mrs. Pirret; vice-presidents,* Mesdames Garraway, . Knight, and Adjutant Gordon. Mrs. Dowllng was ap« pointed delegate to the Dominion Convention. A presentation was made to Mrs. W. Taylor -on her departure to Otahuhu. The headquarters* will be closed during January. -i
