OBITUARY.

MRS. EDWIN WHITE. A very old resident of Auckland, Mrs. White, wife of Mr. Edwin White, 0 f Bella Vista Road, Heme Bay, died at her residence last week, at the age of 64. Mrs. White arrived in Auckland in 1863. with her parents, her father acting a* baker for the troops during the Maori War, later conducting business in Queen Street and Karangahspe Road. She was an active worker at All Saints' Church. Ponsonby. for nearly 40 years, and Mas one of the movers in the establishment of the Heme Say Anglican Church. During the European War she took a prominent part in various patriots rr,r>ve. ments. Mrs. White was a sister of Mr. Rox Woodward, and Mrs. D'Audoey, both well-known residents of Ponsonby. MR. C . F. POTTER. Mr. C. F. Potter died yesterday at the residence of his brother, Mr. V. H. Potter, M.P., in Valley Road, Mount Eden. Mr. Potter, who was 5G years of age, was born at sea. while his parents were en route from Australia to' New Zvland. He was educated at the Hamilton Public School and the Waikato Boy*' High School, and entered the Post and Telegraph service at an early age, as a cadet in the Hamilton post office. Some years ago he was appointed an inspector under the department, and later was officer in charge of the post arid telegraph . office at Dannevirke. Failing health however, compelled him to relinquish this position, and subsequently he came to Auckland.' residing with his relatives at Mount Eden up to the time of his death. He leaves a widow. Colonel H. R., Potter, officer commanding the Auckland military district, is a brother. of deceased.
