In reply to Mr. Justice Edmunds' invitation to members of Parliament to give evidence before his commission on the question of salaries and expenses, the Leader of the s Progressive party has writ.ten stating that no member of his party ■will take any part in the proceedings, on the srro-jnd? that members are responsible to the electors onlv, that the Legislature is competent, and it is essentially its duty to fix the allowances, and that the holding of the inquiry is a degradation of Parliament.
