Amery, Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies, officially replying to .the Australian Agents-Generals' representations in favour of advancing funds to ex-service men under the' State Government's guarantee, stated that if Oversea settlement was to be assisted, for example, by the provision of loans by the Imperial Government for land settlw -nt, it must be possible to assure the imperial Cabinet that the prospects of British .subjects overseas -were realjy encouraging.
