AMERICAN VIEW OF RESULT. AN ERROR IN TACTICS. A. and N.Z. LONDON. Nov. 5. Mr. Johnson, the American prohibition advocate, commenting on the result of the Scottish poll, said : "If I were managing the ' wets ' I would have adopted altogether different tactics. I would not hold a. single meeting; instead of stirring up the women and churches, and pestering public houses, I would have remembered that apathy counted for the 'wets.* Instead, the ' wets' destroyed apathy by making a fight for it."
