TEN CARS DESTROYED.
MOTOR GARAGE BURNED.
OWNER'S HEAVY LOSS. NEW BUILDING GUTTED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] TAIHAPE, Saturday. A fire at Nicholls' new brick motor garage at noon to-day resulted in severe damage to the building and the destruction of 10 motor-cars. Four cars had been removed, when the smoke rendered further salvage impossible. The brigade soon had the fire under control, but not before the building was completely gutted and the roof destroyed. There were 10 cars not rescued, all having the appearance of being total losses. The insurance
on the building is £1750, on the stock £1000, and on a. plateglass window £40, all in the Commercial Union. The insurances on the cars are not available. The owner of the garage states that his loss must be more than double the insurance. SHED AND MOTOB-CYCLE BURNED. NO INSURANCE ON EITHER. [BT TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPOND HAMILTON. Saturday. A large shed at the rear of J. A. Clark's cordial factory in Hinemoa Street was destroyed by fire this morning. A motor-cycle in the building was also destroyed. There was no insurance en either shed or motor-cycle, the loss being estimated at £200.
