TROPHIES OF WAR.
DISTRIBUTION ARRANGED. • * ;- * . ■ ALLOCATION TO DISTRICTS! [BT telegraph.— bepobteb.] WELLINGTON. Wednesday. The War Museum Committee has suggested the following allocation of war trophies: One siege gun to each city in the provincial districts and one to the War Museum. Howitzers are to be distributed as follows: War Museum 1, Auckland t, Wellington 7, Canterbury 5, Otago 5. Field guns : Museum 2, Auckland 30, Wellingon 30, Canterbury 22, Otago 22. Trench mortars : Museum 2, Auckland 22, Wellington 22, Canterbury 17, . Otago 17. Machine-guns : Museum 11, and 350 to districts on a population basis. In the House to-day Sir R. Heaton . Rhodes stated that this statement of distribution will be sent to district committees, on which are represented the N.Z.E.F., returned soldiers' associations, Mayors and chairmen of county councils and other local bodies, who will arrange for the allocation within their respective districts. _ The district committees will make their allocation and forward details to General Headquarters, who will arrange for the transport to their final destination of the trophies.
