IMPERIAL PURCHASES.
NEW ZEALAND'S BUTTER. "AN EXCELLENT BARGAIN." Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 12.40 a.m.) LONDON. April 29. The Australian Press Association learns that the Government control of choese will be removed on May 1. The Food Ministry has decided not to purchase the Canadian output. The question of purchasing the Australian and New Zealand outputs has not yet been decided. A purchase may possibly be arranged on the same basis as for butter. The general opinion of the produce trade i* that Australian and New Zealand have made an excellent bargain for their butter at the present retail price. It is estimated that they will receive about 2s 3d per lb, f.o.b. A. and N.Z. LONDON. April 29. The Ministry for Food has notified Mr. Andrew Fisher that butter will be controlled next winter. The controller will be pleased to receive representatives of the Australian producers and to negotiate terms and conditions of tho contract for next season's surplus.
GOVERNMENT WOOL STOCKS. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 12.50 a.m.) LONDON. April 29. In the- House of Commons, Mr. J. K. Hope Parliamentary Secretary to the Minist.y of Munitions, stated that the un sold stock? of Australian and New Zealand wool held by the Government at March 31 were approximately 527,000 biles and 272.000 hales afloat, while 1,900,000 bales were waiting shipment.
