WEST COAST SYMPATHY.
MINERS AND TIMBER HANDS. [Br TELEGBAPH.— ASSOCIATIOK.J GEEYMOTJTH, Wednesday. At a large stop-work meeting of State coal miners this morning, after an address by the president, Mr. P. C. Webb, tin following resolution was passed with cheers: "That this slop-work meeting of State miners endorse the action of the New Zealand Locomotive Drivers, Firemen, and Cleaners' Association in striking for increased wages and more humane conditions of employment, and we pledge ourselves to support them both morally and financially, recognising that their fight is our fight, their victory will be our victory, whilst their defeat would be the defeat of workers throughout the country."' It was resolved to have the terms of the resolution telegraphed to the secretary of the locomotive men's society, tne secretary of the Miners' Federation (Mr. Arbuckle), and the Minister for Railways. The Westland Timber Workers' Union executive, at a meeting to-day, passed 1 resolution similar .to that of the coal miners, upholding the action of the railwaymea and pledging moral and financial support. 4The executive also directed the secretary to telegraph to Mr. Massey as follows": "At a special meeting of our executive today I was instructed to telegraph you that the Westland Timber Workers' Union supports the railwaymen in their just de mands, and calls upon the Cabinet to grant the same to save a New Zealand-wide industrial upheaval, or otherwise to call Parliament together at once and give the House oi Representatives a chance of settling the dispute."
