STATEMENT BY SIB F. BELL.
INTERVIEW WITH MR. MACK. [BY TELECRAPH. —PEESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The Attorney-General, Sir Francis Bell, who is the senior member of the Ministry in Wellington at the present time, stated to-day that he could give no detailed information regarding the intentions of the Government. The frime Minister had been acquainted with the position, and was in communication with the railway men. The Government was aware of the position said Sir Francis Bell, and was prepared to take all steps that might be proper to protect the public interests. Dur ing the afternoon Sir Francis Bell had an interview with Mr. Mack, secretary of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, and madii certain representations to him en behalf of the Government.
