SAN REMO PROBLEMS.
«*- _ CONTROLLING THE *' TURKS. 300,000 TROOPS NECESSARY. WHO shall provide them? By Telegraph— Association—Coovricht United Service. LONDON, April 19. The San Remo correspondent of the Daily Mail states that Marshal Foch is prepared to, report concerning the occupation of Turkish territory under the treaty. He estimates that at least 300,000 troops will be required, which is likely to come as a bombshell upon the conference. The question is who is to furnish the men. M. Pcincare, ex-President of France, writing in the Matin, sums up the San Remo programme in nine words : "Disarm Germany, and compel obedience to the Versailles treaty." A STRIKE IN SILESIA. HOSTILITY TO THE FRENCH. Renter. PARIS, April 19. The miners and iron and steel workers are joining a general strike in Silesia, owing to the action of the French authorities, who threaten if the strike is effective, to permit Polish troops to cross the frontier.
