HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER.
THE CAMBRIDGE BOARD. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CAMBRIDGE. Tuesday. The Cambridge Electric Power Board met last evening, when the chairman, Mr. M. Wells, reported on the recent conference in Wellington between the Minister for Public Works and the chairman of the various provincial power hoards- Mr. Wells reviewed the preliminary arrangements made with the Public Trustee to advance £12.000, at 5i per cent, as part of a large loan with a currency of 36i years, provision being made for a sinking fund of 1 per cent. Appreciation was expressed of the chairman's arrangements, which were approved. It was decided to take expert opinion in regard to the merits of the system of public tender, as compared with dealing on a percentage basis with a reputable firm.
