CARPENTIER AND DEMPSEY.
PROSPECT OF A MEETING. A. and N.Z. LOS ANGELES, Jan. 5Jack Kearns, manager for Jack Dempsey, the world's champion heavy-weight, has announced the acceptance of James Coffroth's offer of a purSe of £80,000 for a 45-round fight between Dempsey and Carpentier at Tiajuana, Lower California. Kearns said that it was up to Mr. Coffroth to sign Carpentier. Mr. Coffroth is president of the Lower California Jockey Club.
