Charged with the theft of quantities, of iron and timber, Henry Leonard Bradding, foreman of "B" railway goods shed at Christchurch, appeared at the Police Court to-day, before Mr. S. E. McCarthy, S.M. Evidence was given that a quantity ox iron was taken from the goods sheds by a carter to accused's house, and that timber also was stolen
The accused gave the police contradictory accounts as to how he came into possession of the iron and timber. He denied committing the theft, but offered no evidence. The magistrate said accused had committed a breach of trust, setting a bad example to men under his charge. The case required more than a fine, and he inflicted a sentence of three Months' imprisonment. Accused, on leaving tie Court, again! protested his innocence, and announced' that he intended to appeal. j
