ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.
•*. . ALLOCATION OP PHEASANTS. The council of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society met last evening, Mr. H. H. Ostler in the chair. A letter from the Department of Agriculture calling attention to the danger oi using poisoned pollard for killing rabbits was considered to be in line with the society's policy. It was decided that no payment for the capture of hawks should be made this season. . A report from the Otorohanga subsociety spoke enthusiastically of the amplitude of the trout-fishing in. the Waipa river this season. A distribution of young pheasants wa« authorised as follows —Taumarunui, 200 : Papakura, 75; Ohinemuri and King Country, 50 each; Putaruru, 45; Matamata, Huntly, Morrinsville, and Ohinewai, 30 each; Te Aroha, Thames, Helensville, Kaipara Flats, Eden, Otorohanga, Kawhia, Ohura, and Mr. Keale's property at Onewhero, 25 each; Hamilton and'Te Awamutu, 20 each ; Tuakau, 15.
