■ ♦ EMPLOYEES' WAGES RAISED. [by TELEGRAPH—OWN correspondentJ WAIHI, Friday. A deputation from the Labourers' Union waited on the Waihi Borough Council, at its meeting last night, requesting an increase of Is a day in wages. The request was granted, thus raising the weekly wage to £3 6s. The price for stone-breaking was increased to 5s per yard. It was decided to take steps for the acquisition of a total area of 76 acres of land at the Waihi Beach for camping and recreation purposes in terms of the recommendation of the commissioner, Mr. H. A. Young, S.M., who recently reported in favour of the area in question being taken in terms of the Public Works Act. . >
