PERSONAL ITEMS.

Mr. Justice Hosking arrived in Auckland yesterday morning. Mr. G. H. Chesterman has been aptinted local Deputy-Public/ Trustee at amiiton. The Hon. E. W. Alison, M.L.C., returned to Auckland by the Main Trunk express yesterday morning. Lieutenant-Colonel J. E. Duigan, general staff officer, returned from Wellington by the Main Trunk express on Saturday morning. Mr. W. R. F. Eraser, who for the last 15 years has been in charge of the Mosgiel | and Middlemarch offices of the Bank of New Zealand, has been granted extended leave prior to retiring on superannuation. He lias been in the service of the bank for upwards of 45 years, all spent in Otago and Southland. Mr. O. H. Croxton, for 30 years past manager of the Christchurch branch of the South British Insurance Company, is to retire on superannuation at the end of this month. He will be succeeded by Mr. P. H. Harris, manager of the company's branch at Napier. Mr. Harris' .successor at Napier will be Mr. J. W. Norrie, chief clerk of the Wellington branch. Mr. A. C. Philpott, who was recently appointed district clerk and accountant to the Department of Agriculture, Industries and Commerce in Auckland, has accepted a transfer to Wellington in a similar capacity. He will leave for the South to-morrow. His successor here will be Mr. R- A. Keenan. a former resident of Auckland, who has for some years been with the Department in Wellington and Hawke's Bay districts. Mr. Reenaji arrived by the Main Trunk yester* day morning.
