THE PRIME MINISTER.

ARRIVAL IN AUCKLAND. STAY OF SEVERAL DAYS. The Prime Minister, accompanied by his private secretary, Mr. F. D. Thompson, arrived in Auckland by the Main Trunk express yesterday morning. Mr. .Mass will remain in Auckland or its immediate neighbourhood for the next few days. He will address meetings at the Pamell Picture Theatre and the Broadway Theatre, Newmarket, to-night. Questioned regarding his experiences in the "South Island, Mr. Massey said that with the exception of that in Christchnrch every meeting he had addressed had been an unqualified success. He had faced eleven meetings in all during his tour of the South. The people, so far as he was able to judge, were more enthusiastic in 'favour of the present Government than ever before. The affair in Christchurch, of course, was a fiasco, but Mr. Massey said there was no more to be said about it than had already appeared in the papers. ' RECEPTION AT MAS TON. The Mayor of Marton. Mr. W. C. Kensington, welcomed the Prime Minister, congratulated him upon his achievements while representing the Dominion at the Peace Conference, and presented him with an address expressing appreciation of his work as a delegate. The address laid especial emphasis upon his efforts to obtain for the use of producers of tha Dominion a share of the phosphates from Nauru Island. Mr. Massey responded to the greetings in a brief and- happy speech. As the train pulled out of the station he was cheered by the gathering and detonators were fired on the track.
