SUCCESSFUL GARDEN FETE.
ST. PATRICKS CATHEDRAL FUND. A garden fete, organised by the Sodality ' of the children of Mary, in aid of the St. Patrick's Cathedral debt liquidation fund, wag held in the grounds of the Sacred Heart College, Ponsonby, on Saturday afternoon/ This was the final en-' tertainment in connection with the Paddy's market held recently for the same purpose. Ideal ■ weather favoured the function, and there were many visitors. The entertainment - provided included a "mock court," a boxing exhibition by Jim Tracey, the Australian heavy-weight, whose sparring partners were" C. it. | Robertson and J. H. Keenan, basket-ball competitions, raffles, and tea en the lawn, to the music of an Italian string band. The fete, which was oontinued until late in the afternoon, was most success-1 ftd from the points of view) of both the promoters and the visiting public.
