CRICKET. . SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP* THIRD ROUND CONCLUDED. ' SOME GOOD SCORING. The third round of the senior championship of the Auckland Cricket Association was concluded on Saturday afternoon in splendid weather. - The wickets were in good order, and some fine scores were made. Ponsonby defeated Eden at Eden Park by 55 runs on the first innings. Grafton secured a two-point victory over University by defeating them by 114 runs on th© first innings. North Shore beat ParneU by 45 runs on the first innings. GRAFTON V. UNIVERSITY. When stumps were drawn on the opening day of the match between Grafton and University the former had made 399 for the loss fif seven wickets, .E. Horspool (182) and Snedden (28) being not out on Saturday. These batsmen oarried the total to 329 before Sheddea was bowled by Player. Baker fol-, lowed, and at 332 Horspool was caught by Perry. Stallworthy was the last man in, but was bowled by Player without further runs being added. * ... University opened their innings with Graham and Caradus. but only one run had been obtained before Caradus was given out leg before. W. Garrard joined Graham, and the total was raised to 40 when the former returned the ball to Sneddon. Saunders followed, only to see Grihaai similarly dismissed when one run had been added. R. Garrard was the cext man, and he and Saunders carried tha total to 108. when Garrard was run out. Jones joined Saunders, and at 157 Sloman bowled him. Perry, who filled the vacancy, lifted thfc next ball to Stallworthy. Player followed, and the total was 193 when he was caught by Snedden off Saunders. The remaining three wickets put on 26 runs. Sloman, two for 22. EDEN V. PONSONBY. On the first day Eden made 195 in their first innings, and Ponsonby had lost two wickets for 136 runs. CuUitnore (64) and Smith (18) being the not out men. On resuming the board showed iSI when Cullimoro returned the ball ■to Gillespie after contributing 77. Brinsden and Wetherill were dismissed for •. an additional Six runs. Mason then assisted Smith to carry the score to 181 before he was caught'by Co*. Baker fo'.lowed, and at 213 was bowled by Gillespie- Roberts and Smith added 34 runs when the latter was also caught. McMath was similarly dismissed without scoring, and when the total reached 250 Robinson, the last of the batsmen, was bowled by L. G. Taylor. Two hours remained for batting, and Mills and Bennett opened Eden's second innings. A good partnership resulted, the total being 52 when Mills was bowled by Snedden. Irving joined Bennett, and only a few runs had been added when he wai howled. Gillespie was the next batsman, and the board showed 130 when Bennett met a similar fate. Gillespie was joined by Cox, slid the former was caught a little later, the total then being 144. When stumps were drawn Eden had lost five wickets for 161. L. Taylor (9) and Blair (2) being not out. North Shore and Parnell concluded their match at the Devonport Domain, the former winning by .45 runs on the first innings. At the conclusion of the first day's play North Shore, who had batted fell the afternoon, made 271 runs in their first inningß. On resuming Parnell opened their innings by sending Duncan and Badeley to the wickets, and 15 runs were obtained when the former was given out leg before. Anthony followed, and the total was raised to 60 when he was bowled. Soroerville filled the vacancy, And he met a similar fate without scoring, the board showing 64. Pegler joined Bade ley, and the century tvas reached when he was caught. Glenister and Badeley boUi went out at 109, leaving Burns and McLeod to carry on the batting. Coates bowled the former at 132, and Dow filled the vacancy. A great, partnership ensued, the scoro being raised to 224 before Dow was bowled. Turbott followed, and only two runs were added when he was caught by Dacre. Parnell were one man short, and the innings then closed. In the matches at Hamilton to-day High School defeated Warwick by 6S runs on the first innings. In s response to School's first day total of 166, Warwick made 97 runs (Loughlin 52, Hamlin 11). The School could make no headway against the bowling of Johnston in the second innings, and were quickly "dismissed for the small total of 27 runs. This left Warwick 100 runs to get for a win on the second innings, but time intervened when they had 93 on the board tor the Joss of six wickets 'Connolly 29, Johnston 21, Loughlin 11 not out). High School gained a two-point win. HAMILTON'S THREE-POINT WIN. The Old Boys' first day score against Hamilton was 93, to which Hamilton had replied with 123 for the loss of one wicket.
