In a communieatioi received by the council last evening tin trustees said they proposed to apply U the Supreme Court for leave to devoti £1500 from the accumulated .income t. the purpose, and to increase the annua amount available under the will for up keep' etc. from £100 to £500- Tin former sum Mr. T. W. Leys intended tr augment bv another £1500, bringing th. total to £3000. The council was asked foi its assent to the proposition. The lettei was referred to the Finance and Legs Committee, the Deputy-Mayor, Mr. A. J Entrican. remarking that Mr. Leys was niacin °- the citizens under a further debt in respect of his public-spirited generosity.
