The woman had left him for a Walli; Islander, and the husband that evenim called on her and asked her to retun her marriage lines. She refused. He be came angry, and she ran out of the house. He p ; cked up a sharp cane knife and chased her. He inflicted three large cuts on her head, and as she lay on the ground, he nearly cut her arm off. There were many Europeans about and dozens of natives and Indians, and no one . helped the erring wife. She is in the hospital and may recover.
