BUILDING TRADE RECRUITS.
TRAINING RETURNED MEN. PROPOSALS IN WELLINGTON. [Br TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Wednesday. At a conference between members of the Wellington District Repatriation Board, the Master Builders' Union, and the Wellington branch of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners it was decided to arrange for the training of 100 fit unskilled returned soldiers in building work. It was considered that three years' training would be necessary to instruct a man in carpentry, joinery, and boxmaking. It was decided that all trainees must attend a technical school. They will be picked men, and their wages will be made up to £3 per week by the Repatriation Department until the award wage is earned.
