BUSINESS DONE YESTERDAY.

The tone of the sharemarket was good yesterday, though transactions wero not numerous. In banks, inquiry was renewed for Nationals £ft £6 10s, no sellers quoting. New Zealands were again sought at £14 15s, with sellers at £15. For fully paid issue buyers were a little firmer at £18 16s, no sellers quoting. In insurI ances New Zealand's had buyers at 31s 9d, sellers asking 32s 9d. There Weie buyers of South British at £8 15s, sellers £8 19s. In shipping, there was a sharp rise in P. and O.'s, which were quoted at £663, with buyers at £650. Devonport Ferry were reported to have sold at 28s. Huddart-Parkers firmed to 47s sellers, 46s buyers. Miscellaneous lines were in good demand at recent rates. In mining lines, business was reported in Waihis at 53s 3d, sellers closing at 53s 6d. buyers at 535. Business was also reported in Grand Junctions at 13s 9d, more being wanted at 13s 6d, sellers 14s. Hauraki mines (con.) sold at 2s 2d, with further buyers at 2s, sellers 2s 3d. Talismans were easier again, sellers quoting at 10s 7d, with buyers at 10s 3d. AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE. Previous day's closing salsa.
