Y.W.C.A. CONVENTION.
" —«• —_ TRIENNIAL GATHERING. WORK AMONG GIRLS. The triennial national convention of the Young Women's Christian Association was continued yesterday. The morning session was opened by Miss Law, general secretary at Christchurch, with a I short devotional address upon the i "Liberty wherewith Christ hath made u» gloriously free." The business session was opened bv a paper on "The Teen-Age Girl and "the Association Equipment for Her," bv Miss Marjorie Blade, National Girls' fiepartment Secretary, • who traced the development through which u girl passed between the ages of 12 and 20, and consequently the needs of girls between these ages and the ways the association could meet these needs. An interesting discussion followed, and important recommendations were paired to help develop the work in this department. \ A recommendation relating to the field scheme of organisation was considered as follows: That as the need arises for the purpose of administration, the work of the association by the National Board shall be carried ou within geographical areas by a group of women under the title of national field committees. It was decided to adopt method of organisation, and that a suggested constitution be drawn up and sent to each field committee for consideration. s The ladies of the Congregational churches entertained the delegates at ranch eon. Thp afternoon session was occupied with the consideration of recommendaregarding membership. A keen discussion took place on the introduction of art alternative personal basic to that already in operation, but the orginal form, as at present adopted, was carried. A p?.r>er on "The Importance of Finance Work" was given by Miss F. Birch, after which recommendations regarding thi« department of work were considered. The evening session was opened by Miss Griffin with a paper on " Education," and the Rev A. B. Chappell gave his third discourse, dealing with the " Bible and How it Meets the Needs of To-day."
